According to statistics from RootData, a total of 59 crypto VC investment projects were publicly disclosed in April 2026, representing a month-over-month (MoM) decrease of 22.37% (76 projects in March 2026) and a year-over-year (YoY) decrease of 23.38% (77 projects in April 2025). The trend over the past year is shown below:
Among them, CeFi accounted for approximately 10.2%, DeFi 30.5%, NFT/GameFi 5.1%, L1/L2 6.8%, RWA/DePIN 15.3%, Tools/Wallet 10.2%, and AI 13.6%. The number of projects in each sector is shown below:
In April 2026, the total crypto VC funding amount was approximately $1.554 billion, representing a MoM decrease of 66.91% ($4.696 billion in March 2026) and a YoY decrease of 42.75% ($2.714 billion in April 2025). The trend over the past year is shown below:

Kraken’s parent company Payward will acquire derivatives exchange Bitnomial for up to $550 million in cash and stock. Upon completion, Kraken will obtain Bitnomial’s U.S. regulatory licenses for derivatives, including brokerage, exchange, and clearing services.
Vietnamese crypto exchange CAEX has received a significant strategic investment, raising its capital base to approximately 10 trillion VND (about $380 million). Key investors include OKX Ventures and HashKey Capital.
Deutsche Börse Group announced that it will acquire a 1.5% fully diluted stake in Payward Inc., the parent company of Kraken, for $200 million through a secondary market share purchase, implying a valuation of approximately $13.3 billion — down significantly from its $20 billion valuation in November last year — with the transaction expected to close in Q2 2026 subject to regulatory approval.

A publicly listed company affiliated with the Trump family, AI Financial, has agreed to acquire crypto infrastructure startup BlockStreet for up to $43 million.
Fintech company Fence has completed a $20 million funding round, led by Galaxy Digital, with participation from ParaFi Capital and Crane Venture Partners. Fence is building an operational layer for structured credit trading, aiming to automate loan pool tracking, collateral verification, reporting, and payments using blockchain, smart contracts, and tokenization technologies.
Solana ecosystem multisig protocol project Squads has completed an $18 million equity financing, led by Solana Ventures, with participation from Coinbase Ventures, Haun Ventures, L1D, among others. Its total funding has reached $42.9 million. Squads will use the funds to expand its stablecoin settlement platform Altitude, focusing on enterprise stablecoin payment solutions.
Crypto derivatives trading platform Liquid has completed an $18 million Series A, led by Neo and Left Lane Capital, with participation from Haun Ventures, K5 Global, SV Angel, AntiFund, and Sunflower Capital. Liquid initially focused on perpetual contracts and has since expanded into stocks, cryptocurrencies, foreign exchange, Polymarket positions, and secondary markets for pre-IPO equity.
Japanese yen stablecoin issuer JPYC announced that it has secured an additional 2.8 billion JPY (approximately $17.62 million) in the second phase of its Series B round, bringing the total expected size of the round to approximately 4.6 billion JPY. New investors include NCB Venture Capital, Metaplanet, TechMira Holdings, and Canal Ventures.
